Goldenballs Arrives in L.A.
David and Victoria Beckham arrived in the States last week to set up permanent residence in Los Angeles. Although Posh was thrilled at the prospect of living in America, her soccer-star husband wasn’t quite so enthused. News of the World reports:
Goldenballs was desperate to stay in top flight football in Europe. But he was persuaded to go to America by wife Victoria, who convinced him it would mean a better life for them and their three boys. Our source revealed: “David has been crying about leaving Real and leaving his career behind as he has known it. He said he’s had to put eye packs on his eyes to reduce the swelling over the past few weeks. But now… he has finally come to terms with the fact that he’s going.”
I’m sure one thing instantly leapt out at you — David Beckham is known in England as “Goldenballs?” Goldenballs? That’s the most outstanding nickname I’ve ever heard. It’s like a James Bond moniker or the back up lyrics to a Shaft-type song (”Oooh… Goldenballs…. yeeeah… Goldenballs“). Americans really need to start to embracing soccer, if just for the fantastic nicknames and drunken riots. I could be “Foxy Sexington” or “Vanilla Milkshake,” and I’d pound Guinness like a real football fan. And I could cry like a big pussy, too. Soccer is awesome!
