S.S. Gemma Garett in a Bikini

How is it possible to be both Miss Great Britain and Miss Belfast simultaneously, given the tenuous history between the British and the Irish? Some sort of European treatise ameliorating years of sectarian conflict, possibly, or maybe just an awesome rack like Gemma Garrett’s here.

Of course, Belfast is in Northern Ireland, and Great Britain and Northern Ireland make up the United Kingdom. I think you are confusing Belfast with Dublin, which is in Ireland (the nation).

Belfast is part of the UK, but it still has a primarily Irish population, and the religious tensions still exist there. Kinda like the socio-economic and cultural differences between North and the South, even though we’re both part of the United States.

Yeah, except Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland are 2 separate countries!!!!
And no, Belfast doesn’t have a primarily Irish population, the majority of people from Belfast would sa they are British, not Irish!!!

Yeah, they’re two separate countries, but the sectarian issues are still very prevalent. Wikipedia says

Its amazing how thick the english can be. Northern Ireland is in the UK.therefore obviously Gemma can register for Miss Great Britain. She isnt from the Republic of Ireland which is a separate foreign country. Who writes these comments-How is it possivble to be Miss Belfast And miss Great Britain and where do they live

Gemma Garett you are a very nice Lady and looking very good well done for putting Northern Ireland/UK on the map, all i can say is No Surrender, God Save the Queen from the people of Belfast and Northern Ireland we are perhaps more British then the people on the main land of the UK, we love our Queen and will stand by her 100 percent, YES we can be friends to people in the Republic of Ireland (before you get on your horse to ride into the sun sight, to safe you from it, i have plenty of good friends from the South and they are RC and they agree with me 101 percent) but please keep your nose out of our affairs, for any one to say that is wrong they should have a say my answer to you is, are u claiming DLA?? are you claiming Job Seekers?? if you are hand it back in please because you might be offended with the face of the Queen on the money.
