Personally, I think that some of her songs are quite catchy, like the type of music you can listen to while exercising, but the lyrics are really vulgar. I’m a girl who likes sex and all, but there’s a limit to it, I wouldn’t sing about myself having sex with my boyfriend or stuff like that. Her videos are horrible. I guess that lots of girls of my age (17 almost 18) dress like whores these days because of such pop stars… I’m pretty but I usually dress in a nice way without being too sexy at school, so that I seem special when I wear sexy stuff. Sarah, you are very smart. This women annoys me. As a professional woman in my late twenties, I can tell you that women who dress like this in the workforce don’t get very far. I am an attractive and fit woman but I have worked so hard to get respected that I couldn’t even imagine resorting to dressing like a hooker to get attention. It’s like on one hand, these popstars and the girls who are copying them are saying ‘I am sexually liberated’. In reality though, you are NOT liberated. I think lady gaga is a brilliant, talented and creative ‘artist’. She’s extremely beautiful with a unique fashion sense (that may not appeal to everyone) but its what she loves and i believe she looks gorgeous and amazing in every single outfit she wears.
To those of you who are turning this into a moral issue about self respect and being a role model im pretty sure lady gaga doesnt give a hoot about any of it, and neither should any of you. I want to ask WHERE is Lady Gaga’s mom and dad and WHY is Lady Gaga on a pedestal? She grew up in a wealthy upbringing and this is what she chooses for herself just so that people talk about her and she is famous? This is truly disturbing. I see that she has talent. Why can’t she just use her gifts and not her ‘other assets’ to sell herself? It is a terrible message. I’m glad to see that there are some smart children/adults out there who are not falling for this.
There were girls like this in high school or even work who dress like this and show their sexuality for attention. I always felt badly for women like this. It is not empowering. I do not want to be like her. It’s shallow and makes you look cheap. period. There is a lot of this talk on blogs besides this site and my opinion.
PARENTS are not to be blamed for this. It is the artists and record companies selling this to kids. Also, just because sex, drugs, fame exists doesn’t mean that it has to be sold to kids. I really don’t care if I sound ‘old’ and closed minded. If I listen to her music, I can digest it because I’m older. Keep this away from children’s ears. They shouldn’t be learning about ‘muffins’ and ‘bisexuality’ from Lady Gaga. And, I really believe that she puts catchy lyrics/innuendos in her songs to get kids interested in her too. She is very smart. She knows what she’s doing.
But I am smart enough to be angered by it because I AM a good parent. And, just as people have the right to be her fan, I have the right to comment on the negative influence she is having. And her attitude of ‘I’m great and I can do whatever I want and be whoever I want and I became famous, oh but you can become successful other ways too.’ just proves to me that she knew this whole schtick would make her famous fast. She needs to take more responsibility if she wants to be mainstream and remember her upbringing.
So ‘Suck it Haters’, she is getting the response she wanted because she put herself out there this way.
