Like crap masquerading as art? Like kiddie porn? Well, it’s your lucky day, fuckwad. An incredibly disturbing 1975 picture of a completely nude and oiled 10-year old Brooke Shields is being displayed at the “Spiritual America, in the Pop Life: Art In A Material World” at the Tate Modern Gallery in South London. The Daily Mail says
Richard Prince’s image of Shields shows her from the knees up, naked, oiled and wearing make-up, looking directly at the viewer.
His exhibition also features huge sexually explicit images of penetration and works made from the pages of pornographic magazines.
The picture was [originally taken by photographer Gary Gross] after the artist hired Shields to pose as a model in 1975 and is said to have been done with her mother’s consent.
Thanks to the magic of the internet, I managed to find the pictures in question (there’s more than one), but they are so disturbing and sexually explicit that I WILL NOT put them up here. It’s fucking kiddie porn, pure and simple. It’s disgusting. It’s the kind of stuff that makes your stomach turn. The worst part is knowing that Brooke Shields’ mother signed off on them. She gave some pervert license to oil up her daughter, paint her like a Turkish prostitute, and photograph her naked in a bathtub holding a hand mirror. Throw in some quaaludes and a bottle of champagne and you’ve just walked into Roman Polanski’s wet dream. Fuck her, and fuck all of Hollywood (Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese, David Lynch, for starters — full list of names here) for signing off on a petition to free Polanski and for claiming it’s not “rape-rape” (Whoopi Goldberg) when a 43-year old man takes naked pictures of a child, then gives them alcohol and sedatives and anally rapes them despite their pleas that he stop.
I went back and forth on whether to post a link to the pictures — by no means do I want to encourage people to look at pornographic images of underage girls — but on the other hand, I also feel that people need to know what’s being funded by their tax dollars under the guise of “avant-garde and socially challenging art.” In a way, you’re paying for it. So ultimately, I’m leaving that decision you. See them uncensored here. And may God have mercy on your souls.
UPDATE: Your outrage has been validated! Police removed the photograph from the Tate Gallery today on the grounds that it violated child pornography laws.

people are excusing roman polanski because he’s an oscar winning director. if it was just some average dude who did this to a girl and ran away from the law people would be calling for his death.
and i don’t even want to know how people in Hollywood would react if lets say a Catholic Priest did the same exact think Polanski did. everybody is a hypocrite, and want to cover their own, which is why i never listen to anything stupid hollywood types have to say. they are all a bunch of egotistical assholes.
i think he should have to be punished for what he did even though it was years ago and the girl forgave him. his stupid hollywood status shouldn’t excuse him.

Um ewwwwwww. Good rant Abby, I agree completely. As for Hollywood types supporting Roman Polanski, I hope this is finally evidence for the people wondering whether or not the psycho’s who have obtained power there are degenerate losers who have absolutely no concept of the real world. I almost wish the McCarthy hearings would come back just to clean out the slime from Hollywood and get us back to at least some kind of moral standards in movies and tv shows.

I am outraged that there are those who are actually excusing the actions of Polanski. I read one account that let him off the hook due to his parents being killed in concentration camps and his wife being murdered by the Manson cult. That is insane! What about all the good decent people who survived the Nazi death machines who have been law abiding citizens that were not famous film makers? What an insult to them! Should we go into the prisons and now say ” Oh I am so sorry you grew up abused and had some terrible things happen to you, now we are going to let you go. I just saw the pictures. As a mother I am sickened that another mother would exploit her child in this manner. What was she thinking and why didn’t her father put a halt to this kind of behavior on the mother’s part? Perhaps I am naive in these matters but at what point does pictures like this fall under child porn? If an unknown child had pictures taken by an unknown photographer just like these would they really be seen as “art” or would the police be knocking down his door? If there are any law enforcement reading this, please explain this to me.

Wow, some pretty reactionary stuff going on here, due to censorship and self-censorship i am unable to view the offentding photographs and therefore cannot form a rational opinion of them and their intent. I loved ‘jons’ comment about McCarthy hearings. Jon you are a pleb, you should go and join the john birch society for stating such a ridiculous comment. The idea that ‘Hollywood’ is all evil and immoral kind of highlights your lack of grip on reality, as it is easy enough to point out that Hollywood has no truck with throwing in the stars and stripes and being so jingoistic some of the propaganda in their films wouldn’t look out of place in some other ‘less free’ countries. This is a reflection of your own society. Pornography in any guise is usually pretty tasteless, however the focus of many of these comments hasn’t been to debate whether or not this is art (it may well be), but whether or not it is moral. Why should art be moral? Art can be an artists impression of society amongst other things. If this is the case then these photographs (tasteless) serve as a vehicle to express that as individuals, perhaps we are all taken advantage of from the day we are born.

At the age off 44,i was resently diagnised with post traumatic stress disorder. I survived incest from before I could remember to the age of 7 when my dad’s brother couldn’t get access to me. I was raped by my sister’s boyfriend at the age 13. I was molested by my moms’ sister’s husband at the age of 13. When is the world going to realize child pornography, child exploitation, visual pictures of any abuse of a child can be fuel for pedophiles to act out? My abuse as a child has affected me my whole life. I have no trust, no believe in my judgement because I was put in situations I had no control over. My abuse as a child has damaged my kids as well. My youngest has complex post traumatic stress disorder/diagnosed 2 years ago. My son has deprsseion/suicidal at times. My other daughter thinks men are wimps if they don’t beat their women. I lived with my abusive ex for 22 years because that is what I thought I deserved from my childhood.I wish the world to know it is not only the child who is affected, it is her family when she is a child, it is her children if she has any when she is older from her drug/alchol abuse, it is her grandchildren from the way her adult child reacted and seen in the home. Guaranteed a child who has been exploited in any way will either blame themselves or accept what is happening as a normal.
