Adam Lambert Isn’t Sorry

Adam Lambert wants you to know that’s he not sorry about his controversial performance at the American Music Awards Sunday night; he’s sorry for you and your pathetic close-minded hate-mongering square-iness that can’t look true artistic greatness in the eye and accept it for what it is. He told Access Hollywood
“I’m not an artist that does things for every single person. I believe in artistic freedom and expression, I believe in honoring the lyrics of a song. If [my performance is] edited [for west coast viewers], that’s discrimination. There’s a big double standard, female pop artists have been doing things provocative like that for years, and the fact that I’m a male, and I’ll be edited and discriminated against.
People are scared and it’s really sad, I just wish people could open their minds up… it’s really not that big of a deal.”
Simulating oral sex and S&M isn’t pushing the envelope musically. It’s just a trite and pedestrian attempt at disguising crap as art. You really want to cross boundaries, try working free form jazz and the spoons into a couple of your songs. Now that would be a true testament to talent!

I don’t know whats more shocking, his middle finger (gasp!), the spikes on his shoulder (what!), or the fact that he’s gay (no way!).

What a terrible performance…not b/c of what he did just that it was bad. His singing was annoying, the running all over the stage …oh and the song sucks ass. I do applaud his attempt to do something artistic b/c that is something that is being lost.

I never liked this idiot one bit… No one is afraid and no one is censoring you because you’re gay… You’re being censored because you went overboard and crossed, no you jumped over the line… What this idiot did was not only repulsive but just downright disrespectful. So he thinks he’s going to be a pioneer and stand up for anyone who wants to act inappropriate and disgusting on national TV?
Adam, yes, you’re gay, we all know that…. But you’re an ugly person… Inside and especially outside. As young as this fool is, he has a 70 year old’s creases on his forehead and acne scars that can make you vomit. He has NO style and NO originality at all. He’s just another idiot who thinks he is too good to be censored. I hope this was a wake up call for those who call themselves “fans” of this ugly idiot, to wake up and turn their backs on this stupid ass idiot. The performance itself sucked azz and that’s why he needed to do all that other crap to take the focus off his lame azz performance… Dumbazz

I’m gay, I don’t like Adam Lambert, his voice, his style, everything about him repulses me. But I do think he has a point, women have been doing that for ages. As for the gay kiss, do you know how many times I’ve watched straight people kiss in performances on TV, in movies, and in real life? Millions. I really don’t think people should be ranting forever about 1 gay male kiss in a musical performance. It’s really overboard. In the grand scheme of things, it’s really nothing. But it’s getting way too much attention.
I do have to say that Adam is doing a lot more harm than good. The world will never want to see a gay kiss. (Well, unless it’s two women doing it). Btw, when Madge and Brit kissed, no one “hated” them for it, they just disliked the fact that it was such a publicity stunt. But there was no sexual orientation hate thing going on.
Anyway, Adam Lambert’s voice is really, really terrible. I wish there were a better gay singer out there who could be famous instead.

It wasn’t the gay kiss that got me; it was the forced and cliched displays of in-your-face “shocking” sexuality. Perhaps Adam’s never heard of the internet? You can watch a woman have sex with a donkey while another woman takes a dump in a cup and feeds it to her girlfriend on the miracle that is the world wide web. Dragging some queer around on a plastic leash is about as milquetoast as Leave it to fucking Beaver. FAIL.

He did too much too soon to prove himself on stage without anyone asking him to do so. He hasn’t earned the right to do such on stage. He isn’t successful yet. It is offensive to see the things that he did on stage. He really went too far. Nobody went wild for his performance. I feel that the audience felt that they had to clap, but if the cameras weren’t rolling, it would have been silent or he would have been booed off stage. I am a big fan of his, but was disappointed and disgusted with his big “coming out”. You don’t need to prove yourself sexually on stage, you just have to prove how talented you are. He made a HUGE mistake.

I agree with both of you. I thought the crotch thing was too much. But most people across the web are harping on the kiss. I really hate this Adam Lambert guy, he’s really taking gays many steps back. And his voice is truly unbearable, I don’t know how he has a single fan.
I guess if they had these two guys doing it instead: http://images.broadwayworld.com/upload2/57208/tn-500_img_3091.jpg it might have been received better (if they did it with an effective style like Shakira, only, in a more masculine way, or something, I don’t know).
Btw Abby, I don’t like to seem like an obsessed fan, but you’re the funniest writer online and I read your work every day. I actually archive my fav posts of yours (like the 10 Britney tips to Jamie Lynn, the Mischa Barton throwing up thing with the top hat scenario, and the citizen’s arrest bit at the beach).

Lambert blows it. Fitting. No offense to the gay community, but this low class gay knocked you all back a couple decades. Perhaps his attitude is why most hetero’s think homosexuality should be kept in the closet. He apparently picked the wrong venue for that stunt. That wasn’t artistry.

Someone said it right, he isn’t successful yet and he still has much to do to earn his stripes before pulling the stunts he did on AMA. He should have been classier than that, considering he doesn’t have a name yet–he didn’t even win American Idol. All the beginnings of fame is going to his head–and he’s being so obnoxious so early on. People are afraid? Uh-uh, people are turned off, Adam. You can’t shove everything down peoples throats so to speak and have people think “wow, what an artist he is”. You haven’t proven yourself and this is not the way to do it. A lot of people in America still have class and self-respect and taste. I am turned off by him and his attitude and it’s pretty obvious I am not the only one. I consider myself very open-minded but the stunts he pulled to try to be shocking is backfiring on him. I so dislike him now, if I hear his song on the radio or see him on tv, I am either switching it to another station or channel or turning it off. I can’t stand his arrogance.
