Oscar Nominees Announced

83rd annual Academy Award nominations were announced this morning, and as expected, The King’s Speech received the most nominations — 12 in all — including nods for Best Picture and Best Director. The Coen Brothers’ True Grit received 10, and Black Swan threw its hat in the ring a couple of times, too. The nominees included:

Everyone’s buzzing about Inception director Christopher Nolan’s being snubbed by the Academy, but I think the real travesty here is that MacGruber and The Bounty Hunter weren’t nominated for anything. Really, did nobody see Furry Vengeance or Piranha 3D? If there isn’t a talking animal or hot chick in a bikini, it shouldn’t even be in the running. Next thing you know, they’ll start wanting you to read books without pictures in them.
