    Green Day, while being a hugely succesful band are still punk because they have not changed their songwriting one iota to achieve that success.     PROOF! In November 2003, they released the untitled album which contained the likes of I Miss You, Asthenia, Feeling this and Obvious. This album did not get immediate success, as it was darker and edgier than before- this is at a time when pop was starting to take off. Why would they do this if they didn’t like the music!
