‘South Park’ Cruises to the Emmys
“Trapped in the Closet,” the infamous “South Park” episode that poked fun at Tom Cruise and Scientology, and led Isaac Hayes - who is a Scientologist - to leave his role as the voice of Chef, received praise from the Television Academy members via a nod for Outstanding Animated Program. Comedy Central had planned to re-air the episode in March 2006 but replaced it at the last minute with another episode. Rumors circulated that Tom Cruise was behind the cancellation. Cruise denied any involvement and Comedy Central insisted the episode was changed as a tribute to Hayes who had just announced his departure. Yeah, Tom is such a liar. Anyway, all eyes will be on Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of the animated series, on August 27. Let’s hope the show will win an award and give Tom the big slap in the face he deserves.
