A voicemail Chevy Chase left “Community” creator Dan Harmon somehow ended up on the internet, and by “somehow ended up on the internet” I mean “Dan Harmon leaked it like the little crybaby bitch that he is.” Chevy says in the voicemail:
“The other part of the disconnect is obviously, you don’t get my humor at all, or what it is I do that’s funny, that actually makes people laugh. There are two choices. One is the story line — like everybody gives a shit about the fucking story when they don’t even know who the characters are — or there’s, ‘Make people laugh.’”
“It’s cut down. For what? So people can follow the story line between Joel [McHale] and Gillian [Jacobs]? And about love affairs and kissing? Come on man, you’re missing the fucking point. This is not my kind of comedy. I thought you hired me for what I can do that’s funny! You’ve got to give me some range.”
“It’s just a fucking mediocre sitcom… I want people to laugh and this isn’t funny! It ain’t funny to me because I’m 67-years-old and I’ve been doing this a long time, and I’ve been making a lot of people laugh a lot better than this.”
If you were ever gonna listen to anybody about the finer points of comedy and the subtleties of humor, it’s Chevy fucking Chase. “Fletch” ring a bell? What about “Caddyshack?” “National Lampoon’s Vacation?” Not to mention his pivotal role in making Saturday Night Live a household name. The man’s a comedic legend. Harmon might wanna spend a little less time leaking his voicemails to the media and painting Chevy Chase as some egomaniacal asshole and start actually listening to somebody who knows what will get a laugh and how to salvage a show with a talented cast from tanking because the show’s creator insists on pandering with crappy love interest angles. Hallelujah! Holy shit. Where’s the Tylenol?

Good for Chevy, fuck that guy for messing with Clark Griswold!
Memoirs of an Invisible Man? Vegas Vacation? Are you guys sure Chevy Chase is the comic genius you are painting him as?
The show Community is far funnier than most shows on tv right now. Chevy’s character on the show is absolutely a reflection of him in real life. He is a has been who is upset when anybody gets more attention than he does. Pathetic.
My friend’s step-mother makes $87 an hour on the internet.
She has been without work for six months but last month her payment was $16683 just working
on the internet for a few hours. Read more on this site…. g00dotme/7k
I agree with Dennis. Also, remember when most of us thought Chevy was funny? That’s because we were little kids with un-evolved taste in humour.
We grew up and our tastes advanced but Chevy didn’t.
I like Community. And to be honest, they could drop Chevy Chase from the show. He is pathetic. The other characters are far funnier and more interesting. Senor Chang is a riot.
