Christina Aguilera says she is fat and proud now that she’s embraced her Ecuadorian roots, and she’s not changing it for any record executives or television producers or either of the two men carrying her out of the bar in the above photo. Radar Online says:
She tells Billboard magazine that during the promotion of her 2002 album, Stripped, “I got tired of being a skinny, white girl. I am Ecuadorian but people felt so safe passing me off as a skinny, blue-eyed white girl.”
Months later, after gaining 15 pounds, Christina said her label bosses flipped out!
“They called this serious emergency meeting about how there was a lot of backlash about my weight. Basically, they told me I would effect a lot of people if I gained weight — the production, musical directors.”
“I told them…’You are working with a fat girl. Know it now and get over it.’ They need a reminder sometimes that… it’s my body.”
Yes, there just aren’t enough fat people clamoring for validation of their fatness these days. They just can’t seem to find a voice. Fortunately, Christina is on the scene to say “Hey, I’m here, I’m big as a steer, so get used to it,” or whatever it is that fat people chant when they’re pretending to be empowered.
You can get Christina’s look with a black-and-white graphic print dress like this one from Asos. The trick is to order it two sizes smaller than you actually are and put your foundation on with a trowel.
