Fashion Fail: Amanda Peet’s Polka-Don’t
The polka dot trend isn’t as prevalent this year as it was last year, but it’s still a classic that you can easily incorporate into your wardrobe, so long as it doesn’t look like a hospital gown and you don’t pair it with the sort of shoes Goody Proctor might wear on the witness stand at the Salem Witch Trials. I don’t know what Amanda Peet was thinking.
Polka-do’s: This sleeveless dress from Sand is a little pricey ($595), but it’s timeless, and if you wear it once a week for the next two years straight, it comes out to about five bucks a wear. That’s how I explained it to my husband, anyway. Feminize your polka dots with sheer fabrics (this chiffon dress from Urban Outfitters is a nice example), or go for simple details like a grosgrain waistband (DKNY, $295) or strategically-placed piping (Rachel Zoe, $325).
