I think it’s supposed to work like a very heavy foundation, which you then cover over with powder for a more even finish. Then, of course, they airbrush the picture out the wazoo anyway, because God knows we can’t have anyone looking the way they actually do in real life.
From the shininess on Kat’s forehead, I’m guessing that the picture on the right was taken just after the tattoo camouflage was applied, and before they did the rest of her make-up (she’s still hot though; damn it, that’s just not fair!)
If, however, they photographed her like that and THEN did all the photoshoppery, yeah,that’s just fucking lame. We can’t know for sure, though.

The red part is her actual non-tattooed skin. The lighter parts are the tattoo cover up. So technically, they just airbrushed her natural skin to make it look more like the covered up tattoo skin.

I think you all are dumb. Kat Von D is beautiful with/without her tattoos. The picture on the left is all photoshop. How can ones skin be so red? That’s definitely not concealer as the red parts! As for the picture on the right, that of course was air brushed! Its a picture for her perfume line. Any famous person who takes a picture as a model for anything gets air brushed! And apparently she has no tattoos, so duh!

You lot obviously dont watch LA Ink. There is an episode that shows her going on this photoshoot. The picture is taken before they finish applying the make up to her whole body. Yes the picture on the right is airbrushed, but its not as airbrushed as you think. They cover all of her body in the make up to ensure that she looks like she has an even skin tone.
You’ll notice the places she’s red are the places she /doesn’t/ have make-up on. It’s just heavy foundation over her tattoos. It’s clearly not blended or powdered or anything. Also, she isn’t wearing make up on her face either. Clearly she wasn’t about to step out in front of the camera to do the shoot just like that.
Don’t get me wrong, I love tattoos. I have 23 of them myself, sleeving most of both arms and covering my chest, but then at the same time, my tats are a mix of Yakuza style & satanic. And on me, being of nordic/germanic/bohemian descent, they look good.
Kat is gorgeous, but I think she did poorly on picking her tats. The art style is great, but it detracts from her beauty rather than accentuating it, which is what tats should do… if you play it smart.
Now, maybe she’s into the whole retro style tats. Some people are. But any real artist can look at those and see that it was a poor choice based on her frame, skin tone, and overall coloration (hair, eyes, etc). It’s almost like some people need a beauty consultant to help in getting the right tats.
Granted, you should always go with tats that have deep personal meaning, and if that’s the case in Kat’s tats, then my apologies. At a deeper look, the detail in most of them is really excellent. And really, I can’t say much about that, because I like lowbrow art too… especially Coop & Pushead (if you’re not familiar with these artists, please do a Google search. Their styles are unique and have influenced a generation of artists). Still though, I simply don’t agree with her pick of imagery versus her body style. She would have looked a lot better with Tiger-strip-tribals, Maori or Inuit designs, and maybe smokey shades of symmetrical designs. Something to create symmetry. Something to keep the look balanced.
But then, what do I know… I’m retired from Tattooing and work as a hacker for the govt…. it’s better pay and less drunks showing up in the middle of the night wanting inks, while having no clue what they want other than some stupid shit that they’ll regret the next day.
for the record, i have big tattoos, and im extremely fair skinned, ive tried this product, and i will say that it does conceal tattoos completely, it doesnt rub off on clothes, it doesnt sweat off, and you dont feel like you have a ton of it caked on, all of you people hating on it, well, you should have had the lady behind the counter at sephora show you how it works before you bought it! not only does it hide tattoos, but it hides varicose veins, scars, redness, uneven skin tones, blemishes, under eye circles, its like magic!

I am so tired of people with tattoos putting down other people’s tattoos saying they were chosen correctly and have no theme, etc. you all look trashy with tattoos get over it. You ALL regret 90 percent of your tattoos even though you won’t admit it. You’re just addicted like any drug addict or alcoholic. Thankfully, I don’t have a single one and am SO happy I didn’t make that mistake when I was young because I came close once when I was 17! (WHEW!)
