There were rumors of an engagement earlier this year, but 19-year old Miley Cyrus confirmed today that after three years of dating, she and Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth are engaged to be married. Please hold your eye rolls and snorts of contempt until the end. People Magazine says:
“I’m so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam,” Cyrus [announced].
Australian actor Hemsworth, 22, who met Cyrus when they costarred in The Last Song in 2009, proposed on May 31 with a 3.5-carat diamond ring from jeweler Neil Lane.
Nineteen is pretty young to get married, but I think Miley’s proven that she’s more than capable of making sound life decisions. Like getting that dream catcher tattoo, for instance. She’s definitely gonna be glad she did that when she’s forty. And quitting Hannah Montana at the height of her fame to pursue her “music career.” With that kinda wisdom beyond her years, I don’t see how their marriage could possibly fail!
