Footage of a then 10-year-old Ryan Gosling busting out some serious nineties dance moves at a Mormon talent show in Canada found its way online earlier this week, and if watching it doesn’t make you wanna put on your Guess jeans and crimp your hair, well, then, you’re probably too young to remember a time where most kids weren’t fat. Radar Online says:
Filmed at a 1991 talent show at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ontario, Canada, the amateur video features the adorable star in his younger years, singing the hit song When A Man Loves A Woman and also demonstrating the dance moves of the early 1990s to C+C Music Factory’s hit song Everybody Dance Now wearing MC Hammer pants.
It wasn’t long after the talent show that Gosling became famous in his own right. At the age of 12, Ryan landed a spot on The Mickey Mouse Club, where he performed alongside Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Christina.
I know I’m supposed to say something mean here. It’s Ryan Gosling in hammer pants dancing to C+C Music Factory with his sister at a fucking Mormon talent show, for chrissakes. It’s a damn gold mine. All any gossip blogger could ever wish for on a Wednesday morning. But I just can’t find it in my heart to burn him. He looks like he’s really having fun out there. And he can work a Mormon audience, that’s for damn sure. They fucking love him. And clearly whichever parent is filming this loves him, much more than they love his sister. They only time they film her is when she partially obstructs his view, even though she’s clearly the better dancer. And that, boys and girls, is how porn stars are made. Fin.
